An Indian Army jawan posted in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district is being interrogated after he was allegedly caught at the receiving end of a honey trap laid by an agent of Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

The jawan, Sombir Singh, hails from Haryana and was posted in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district. Singh had been in touch with the Pakistani agent through social media. The agent, who introduced herself as Anika Chopra, used to chat with Sombir Singh via Facebook.

Singh had allegedly passed a lot of confidential information and photographs of the Indian Army to the Pakistani agent.

Chopra, who was using a fake name, told Singh that she was a lieutenant in the nursing department posted in Jammu region.

Singh was earlier posted in Maharashtra’s Ahmadnagar region in 2016 where he had first come under surveillance.

According to information, Singh was besotted with the Pakistani agent. He would video chat with her and was even willing to divorce his wife for the ISI agent. During their chats, he had mentioned that his wife was illiterate.

Singh had even taken 5,000 rupees from the Pakistani agent. He is now being interrogated by an intelligence team that has come from Jaipur to Jaisalmer.
