FORT POLK, La. — The Army has identified a woman who apparently was killed on a Louisiana base and found in the trunk of a car driven by her husband’s girlfriend.
A Fort Polk news release Tuesday said the Criminal Investigation Command is investigating the death of 22-year-old Shelena Kyle.
Base spokeswoman Kim Reischling says Kyle’s husband, Cpl. Logan Kyle, is an infantry fire team leader in the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. She says he joined the Army four years ago and was assigned to Fort Polk in February 2017.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office says Kyle and 24-year-old Sarah Parker were in a car stopped Sunday after a tipster said a woman was driving around with a body in her trunk. Parker’s 1- and 2-year-old children were in the car.
