NEW DELHI: A day ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s poll rally, Naxalites blew up a bus early on Thursday morning, killing on-board a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan and three others in Bacheli area of Dantewada, which is one of the worst Left Wing Extremism affected district of Chhattisgarh.

“The CISF personnel had gone to the local market in a mini-bus early in the morning to buy vegetables and other items. They were returning to their camp, having finished their shopping, when Maoists triggered IED shattering the bus in Bacheli area. A CISF jawan, the driver, conductor and cleaner died in the explosion,” Dantewada SP Abhisek Pallav told the ET. Two more jawans of CISF have been hospitalised with minor injuries, Pallav added.

The Naxals have given a call to boycott assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. Polling for the first phase of the election in the Naxal dominated area of Bastar division will take place on November 12.

The attack comes a day ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s rally in Jagdalpur which is about 85 kilometre away from Dantewada where the Naxal attack took place – twice since Red ultras had killed a Doordarshan News cameraman and police personnel on October 30.
