Singh said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi does not know the ancient history of India and is even not aware about Modern history.
Addressing an election meeting at Langthabal Mandal in Imphal West district of Manipur, the Defence Minister said,” Terror outfits must come forward to talk with the government to resolve their problems. Violence has to be stopped permanently to undertake the developmental projects and welfare schemes for the benefit of the people. The terror violence has been largely controlled in Manipur under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh,” Singh said.
Singh said that during the Congress rule prior to 2017 Manipur was besieged with blockades and violence.
He added,” After Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, the face of Manipur has been changed and the state is going forward to achieve a new future. Modi has a new vision for the all-round development of the North eastern region. The projects relating to rail, road and air connectivity are being implemented with the mission mode.”
The Defence Minister said that the Northeastern region will be made a big tourism hub and Manipur’s development through tourism would be tremendous.
Attacking Congress, he said Congress neglected the region. In another programme he said, “Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said in parliament that China Pakistan became friends during Modi’s regime. Rahul does not know the ancient history of India and is not even aware about Modern history.”
Singh said, “I will not attack any Prime minister for it is not proper as Prime minister is an institution and in democracy it is not proper to attack the institutions.”
The defence minister said that Rahul said that more Indian soldiers were killed in Gallwan than China. However, now an article is published in a newspaper by a reputed journalist which states what happened there. “On matters involving the nation’s integrity and sovereignty, one must avoid making irresponsible comments.”
He added following the terrorist strikes on Uri and Pulwama, Prime minister within ten minutes decided to carry out surgical strikes on the terrorist. “Terrorists training camps were destroyed.”
The elections to the 60-seat Manipur Assembly would be held in two phases on February 28 and March 5. The counting of votes would take place on March 10.
The Defence minister later visited the house of Indian Army soldier, Yumnam Kalleshor Kom, who was martyred during the Kargil War in 1999.
“Met with his family members and enquired about their well-being. I salute the courage and supreme sacrifice of YK Kom,” he tweeted.
