The broadcast on social media opened with a pre-recorded performance by pop superstars BTS in Seoul before the show kicked off in Paris. The band comprising of Jin, Jimin, RM, V, J-Hope, SUGA and JungKook performed their 2021 hit single ‘Butter’ from Namdaemun (Sungnyemun Gate), a historical landmark in South Korea.

The BTS ARMY in India, tuning in for the big gig were pleasantly surprised to have the band’s performance being followed up by PC’s big appearance. Another familiar Indian star joining the starry lineup was Anil Kapoor. Proud to see the talents doing their bit to help society, fans on social media went as far as comparing the Bollywood stars to BTS and saying “What BTS is to KOREA is what they (Priyanka Chopra and Anil Kapoor) are to INDIA.”

Global Citizen has been behind other high-profile charity events, including “Vax Live: The Concert To Reunite The World” earlier this year in Los Angeles.
That brought together musicians, actors, celebrities, world leaders and even the pope, in a united call for global vaccinations to fight Covid-19.
The organization describes itself as a movement with a mission to end extreme poverty by 2030.
